Dedicated to establishing a deeper connection with his listeners through his multifaceted production style, FRQ NCY continues to rumble the bass scene one release at a time. By drawing inspiration from globally recognized producers such as Flume, Bassnectar and Deadmau5, FRQ NCY has already showcased his dark, yet signature sinister sound with the release of his 2018 The Apex Effect EP. However, what lures his fan base into wanting more of his infectious production style is his ability to build on his signature sound with a much more twisted approach. From distortion, sub-bass frequencies, eerie synths and ground breaking basslines, just a few of these descriptors are already enough to prove that FRQ NCY is bringing out those mystical vibes which sway between bass and slow tempo trap music. Known as one of Atlanta’s finest producers, FRQ NCY’s motivation to perfect his sound design does not unnoticed with the release of his Broken Patterns EP out now on Bassrush.

With mystery as one of FRQ NCY’s key elements, a rush of layered frequencies and a growling distortion lead listeners into his world of ‘Broken Patterns.’ Beginning to hallucinate with copious amounts of ground shaking bass and cutting edge instrumentals firing through the single, FRQ NCY is just getting warmed up. Warning listeners with a uneasy sound that feels as if came from a movie when things are about to go wrong, this producer incorporates the use of slow tempo lasers along with a buffered trap instrumental to completely blow your mind away. Now, ‘Love + Hate,’ are strong words in the music industry. Some absolutely love bass and some despise it, but the beauty of FRQ NCY is that he paints a picture for his listeners through his music. Brightening the day with an energetic introduction consisting of vibrant melodies, FRQ NCY begins to twist your imagination slowly as you begin to float through a river of  bass-heavy wave lengths which cross between euphoric and mystical. If a song was intended to portray communication between humans and nature, it feels as if this is the one.

On a more personal level, many have experienced ‘Pins and Needles’ in their life time but what about feeling a tingling sensation from a mutated track. With sub levels, screechy instrumentals and a high pitched chime, FRQ NCY’s ability to cross multiple boundaries in this mind-altering single is undeniably impressive. As obsessive as the EP already feels, ‘Rubberband’ is one of my personal favorites as FRQ NCY bridges the gap between trap and bass music with this one. Getting heavier and not to mention filthier as the track progresses, jaws will drop and many will be asking themselves where his cutting edge sound has been all of my life. Inspired earlier to write electronic music after seeing a G Jones show, there is no doubt in my mind that FRQ NCY has just brought the antidote known as ‘Wyvern’ in times of need. Shifting levels slowly with underground-space like vibes, this hard-hitting producer clearly has the ability to twist his signature sound and innovate even further in the bass scene.

APLSOZ - Light (the purpose of this)

Mastered by Mastering Engineer Saif Bari

In times of quarantine and self-isolation, the need for introspective adventure has never been greater. Today, Florida producer APLSOZ returned with a new song that does just that. “Light (the Purpose of This),” an amped up, third sonic-chapter of his ongoing multimedia saga, Sonic Storyline.

Since launching his career in 2012, Florida bass act Aplsoz (real name Cody Bones) has maintained a reputation as one of the top up-and-coming bass acts in the Sunshine State. Earlier this month, Bones appeared at Okeechobee Music Festival, where his fiery dubstep perfectly accented the late-night Incendia Stage vibes. A month prior, Bones took to SoundCloud to unveil, “Love,” the first track of a four-part sonic saga, Sonic Storyline, complete with a written storyline about six travelers exploring the universe.

“Light (the Purpose of This)” checks back in to find our travelers swept up in a blackhole. To represent the imagined spiraling fractal lights, the song kicks off off with twinkling piano keys dancing around the listener. Deep bass rises up as the characters devise a plan, and at the one minute mark, with alarms supposedly ringing onboard the spacecraft, glitchy bass signals something approaching. The first drop, a grinding dubstep force, is depicted in the narrative as an energy field enveloping the space shift. By the song's end, the listener can relate to the narratives explanation of the travelers being swept out of a wormhole.

“This song is much more ecstatic and exciting in its arrangement,” said Bones, who caught up with EDM.com to talk about the release. “More bright and uplifting versus down, dirty and heavy [low end frequencies.] This effect of positive versus negative, light versus dark is my main goal in music.”

With the combined audio and written element, this sonic narrative is a powerful imaginative tool for listeners to escape while stuck at home or, worse, sick. This can be attested to firsthand by the producer, who first came up with the project while battling Mastoiditis, a rare anatomical disease.

“This was designed to have specific emotions play out for people so that they arrive at a hopeful resonance in conclusion,” said Bones. “I just want to offer a hand to anyone who is going through or has gone through a series of traumatic events. I hope this music and story can cause some healing for anyone in need.”

Producer Dojo - Sam Shoemaker - Do It For Me: Remix EP

Mastered by Mastering Engineer Saif Bari

Do It For Me, a hard hitting, dubstep-infused rap anthem, dropped on New Years Day and set off a run of 11 collabs released by Sam Shoemaker and Trap Jesus in 2019. The song is an ode to one of hip hop’s most celebrated topics: The Self.

Sam Shoemaker’s lyrics are brash and unapologetic, even bordering on disrespectful, but remain playful and fun with punchlines throughout.

Now the Producer Dojo’s finest Producer/DJs are bringing you the Do It For Me Remix EP: four new flavors of bass cake baked fresh for 2020. Leading things off is Knobreaks with a hybrid trap banger and RIP Kenny is on deck with his signature guitar driven rock-step style. Third we have Slowform’s offering, a deep dub masterpiece spiked with spooky bell samples. Batting clean up and bringing us home is Munchii with a grand slam of face melting Riddim glory.
